What is G-Cloud13 and the G-Cloud framework?

The G-Cloud Framework is now in its 13th iteration and comes with a significant update. At Managed247, we can provide a wide range of IT support services via this framework for the public sector.

What is G-Cloud13?

G-Cloud13 is the latest update to the G-Cloud Framework. This framework was introduced in 2012 as a system for buying and selling cloud-based services and solutions. It stands for Government Cloud as it is designed for companies and organisations working in the public sector. 

Suppliers of cloud solutions can use the system to find public sector jobs. This has been the case since the first iteration of G-Cloud, but G-Cloud13 has made one significant change. Previously, all contracts were offered and found via the Digital Marketplace. Now, it is done via the Public Procurement Gateway. The entire G-Cloud framework is split into Lots (or categories):

Cloud Software

Suppliers can apply for one or all of these lots based on the solutions offered to the public sector. They may then post their unique solutions and compete with others to secure contracts offered by buyers. 

Another change in G-Cloud13 is the introduction of Lot 4. It doesn’t have a specific name, but it targets larger and more complex cloud support services.
