We’re proud to support our employees in raising money for causes close to their hearts, and in today’s post we wanted to shine a spotlight on the sterling efforts of just two of them.

Leading the way is our Service Delivery Manager, Shannon Rowney, who’s taken part in numerous charity fundraising and not for profit fund raising efforts that we’ve been delighted to support her in.

As well as running several races in support of Macmillan and Edinburgh Children’s Hospital, she hosted a successful community bingo night that raised £2,000 for Stand Up To Cancer – a sum we boosted with an extra £500 for this great cause.

Superstar Shannon also works as a volunteer for her local Cancer Research UK store, earning the charity around £20 an hour, as well as drumming up support by running the shop’s social media page.

Educational equality

Another cause close to her heart is her son’s school, where she’s on the fundraising committee and helps run events raising money to buy supplies for students who are less able to afford them.

“My mission is to champion educational equity and community wellbeing by actively supporting charitable initiatives and fundraising efforts,” Shannon says. “Through running events, volunteering, and organising impactful campaigns, I strive to make a tangible difference for causes such as cancer research, children’s healthcare and school programmes that close learning gaps for economically disadvantaged students.”

Never one to rest on her laurels, Shannon adds that she’s always on the lookout for ways we can raise money here at Managed247. She’s eager to get the whole company involved with things like charity walks, runs and any other events she can get the team on board with.

Sleeping out for homelessness

Our Head of SMB, John Burrows, is another team member who’s put in an impressive effort on the charity front recently. He’s just taken part in the CEO Sleepout Milton Keynes 2025, spending the night in the MK Dons stadium to raise money for local homeless charities. Despite the relative comfort of a stadium setting, John found it cold, difficult and hard to sleep, giving him a deeper understanding of the reality many people face every day and making him appreciate the security and comfort we all take for granted.

“I took part in the sleep-out because homelessness is an issue that often goes unseen,” John explains. “It genuinely frustrates me that in a country like the UK, it remains such a persistent problem. Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to call home, so supporting this cause is incredibly important to me. Spending just one night without the comforts of home really highlighted how tough it is for those who face this reality every day.”

John has already smashed his fundraising target, with a £500 donation from us thrown in, but it’s not too late to donate if you’d like to chip in.
