Microsoft has announced a new Microsoft 365 offering called Microsoft 365 E7, also known as the Frontier Suite. The aim is to help businesses use AI safely across their organisation while keeping security and control firmly in place.

The new suite combines productivity tools, AI assistants and security capabilities into one platform. Microsoft says the goal is to help organisations move beyond experimenting with AI and start using it to deliver real business value.

The service will become available from 1 May 2026.

What is the Microsoft Frontier Suite

Microsoft 365 E7 brings together several existing Microsoft technologies into one bundle. These include:

• Microsoft 365 E5
• Microsoft 365 Copilot
• Microsoft Agent 365
• Microsoft Entra identity and access tools
• Microsoft Defender, Intune and Purview security services

All of these tools are combined into a single platform designed to deliver AI powered productivity with enterprise grade security and governance.

This means businesses can use AI across emails, documents, meetings and spreadsheets while IT teams maintain visibility and control across the organisation.

Introducing Agent 365

One of the key additions is Microsoft Agent 365.

Agent 365 acts as a central control platform for AI agents across a company. It allows IT and security teams to monitor, manage and secure the AI tools running inside their organisation.

As businesses begin to deploy more AI assistants and automated agents, Microsoft believes governance will be critical. Without oversight, organisations may struggle to understand which AI systems exist, what they are doing, and how they access company data.

Agent 365 is designed to solve this by giving teams a single place to manage AI just as they manage users and devices today.

AI that does more than answer questions

Microsoft is also introducing new capabilities inside Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Instead of simply responding to prompts, new AI agents will be able to carry out multi step tasks. For example:

• preparing reports
• organising meetings
• analysing information across documents and emails
• creating presentations or plans automatically

These agents can work in the background while users monitor progress and stay in control.

Pricing

Microsoft 365 E7 will cost $99 per user per month, which is roughly £78 per user per month at current exchange rates.

The suite bundles together tools that would otherwise be purchased separately, including Copilot and Agent 365.

Agent 365 will also be available as a separate product at $15 per user per month, around £12 per user per month.

Why this matters for businesses

Microsoft believes organisations are entering a new phase of AI adoption. Instead of experimenting with AI tools, companies want systems that can safely operate across the entire business.

This new approach focuses on two key ideas:

Intelligence
Using AI to improve productivity, automate tasks and unlock new insights.

Trust
Ensuring AI systems are secure, compliant and fully governed.

Together, these principles aim to help organisations adopt AI at scale without introducing new security risks.
